VET STATEMENT OF ATTAINMENT IN ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY

Description
A six-units of competency where students learn about environmental sustainability in the fashion industry, sewing machine and speciality machines skills. Skills in sewing garment components such as collars, zips, hems, seams, gathering, lace inserts, waist loops, and button holes are taught throughout the course as well as upcycling, repairing and making alterations the right way.
The student learns about the waste statistics in the fashion industry and how it is possible to reduce textile waste. Sustainability is about innovative ideas and the use of products for environmentally friendly production and manufacturing.
Attendance is blended learning with face to face or online video conferencing weekly for 2 hours and the duration of the course is 21 weeks. All observation assessments are completed in the Atelier Studio. Statement of attainment are issued when assessments are deemed competent. Some home sewing, planning, designing can be completed at home and are required for all units.
