Vocational Education and Training (VET) Statement of Attainment

VET Statements of Attainment are designed for students to complete a number of units that enable them complete a specific a task.

VET Statement of Attainment in Explore Fibres and Fabrics and Colour

Description

A statement of attainment with three units of competency. Students explore colour through organic and commercial dyeing and experiment with fibres and fabric. Dyeing is the process of using dyes either organic or commercial dyes and colouring textile materials such as fibres, yarns, and fabrics to enhance the beauty of the created garment. Students create simple garment(s) and use dyeing methods and manipulating fibres and fabrics.

Attendance is face to face and the duration is 8 weeks. Assessments are not compulsory and the student will receive a Statement of Attendance, but if the student would like to receive a Statement of Attainment then assessments must be completed. Therefore, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment when the two units below are completed and competent.

Vet Statement of Attainment in Environmental Sustainability in the Fashion Industry

Description

A six-units of competency where students learn about environmental sustainability in the fashion industry, sewing machine and speciality machines skills. Skills in sewing garment components such as collars, zips, hems, seams, gathering, lace inserts, waist loops, and button holes are taught throughout the course as well as upcycling, repairing and making alterations the right way.

The student learns about the statistics in the fashion industry and how it is possible to reduce textile waste. Sustainability is about innovative ideas and the use of products for environmentally friendly production and manufacturing.

Attendance is face to face weekly for 2 hours and the duration of the course is 21 weeks. Assessments are not compulsory but to receive statement of attainment when assessments are deemed competent.  Some home preparations are required for all units.  The student receives a statement of attainment when the seven units of competency below are completed and competent.

VET Statement of Attainment in Sketching, Design and Modify Patterns

Description

Three units of competency in sketching, design and pattern modification. Students develop skills in drawing and sketching, interpreting basic sketch, identify the design process and modify patterns for basic garments.

Students create simple garment(s) by incorporating their skills in drawing their design for the process of modifying a pattern. Attendance is face to face weekly for 2 hours.

Assessments are not compulsory but to receive a statement of attainment students must comply by submitting assessments as required assessments are not compulsory but students will only receive a statement of attendance. Practical work is required and theory work is completed in the classroom. Duration of the course is 12 weeks with some home preparations also required. The student receives a Statement of Attainment for the three units below when they are completed and competent

  • MSTCL2011 Draw and interpret a basic sketch
  • MSTCL2010 Modify patterns to create basic garments
  • MSTFD2006 Use a sewing machine for fashion designs

VET Statement of Attainment in Modifying, Repairing Costumes and Embellishing Garments

Description

Three units of competency consisting of repairing and maintaining costumes as well as embellishing garments by hand or machine. Students develop skills in embellishing garments such as embroidery and beading.  Students also learn skills in repairing and maintaining costumes.

Attendance face to face weekly for 2 hours and duration and attendance face to face once a week for 12 weeks. Practical work is required and theory work completed in the classroom. Some home preparations are also required.

The student creates a complex garment(s) and incorporate skills in maintaining costumes and embellishing garments.  Students receive a statement of attainment (SOA) for the three units of competency when units are completed and competent.   Student that do not complete the assessment, they are not compulsory, receive only a Statement of Attendance.

VET Statement of Attainment in Patternmaking Principles and Modifying Patterns to Create Basic Style

Description

Two units are taken from the Certificate II and III in Applied Fashion Design and Technology course. They can be completed with or without assessments, it is up to the student. If they decide to do the assessments, A statement of attainment will be presented at the end of the course once all assessments have been completed and the student is competent. However, if it is decided that the student does not wish to complete the assessments, they will not receive a statement of attainment, but will receive statement of attendance.

There are no pre-requisites for these units. Attendance face to face weekly for 2 hours once a week for 8 weeks. Practical work is required and theory work completed in the classroom. Home preparations are also required to keep up with the class.

The student develops their own simple style pattern, straight skirt, simple blouse, or straight dress using their own body measurements(s) and incorporate skills in modifying patterns. The final pattern is used for developing the first toile in calico which is fitted to the student for the perfect fit. The student can go on to complete a garment in the fabric of their choice. Students receive a statement of attainment for the two units of competency when units are completed and competent.
